Orinoco’s has relegated Starbucks to the “desperate for coffee” status. Their lattes are wonderfully delicious with rich notes of chocolate.. the food (Soups and salads) is fresh and hits the spot, not to mention their desserts (I stay away from because I know I would be addicted if I tried them and about 40 lbs over ideal body weight). Recently they have added monthly summer concerts to the menu of offerings
JC (one of the owners) is friendly, knowledgeable and passionate about coffee. The ambiance is friendly and relaxing, stop in and meet the friendly smiling faces, you never know when you might end up having a stimulating discussion outside sitting at the tables or inside at the coffee bar. This is a wonderful addition to Columbia!!

Best soup I’ve ever tasted in my life — world class! The Ginger Carrot Soup is 3D — different; delicate; delicious. They serve it about once a week. Other soups are also marvelous.
Owner is local to Howard County and obviously cares about his food. He tells me his family owns a wholesale coffee business. Restaurant is small, but inviting. Atmosphere more like a lunch place than dinner place. The guess here is, “try it, you’ll like it.”

Orinoco Coffee House is the classic coffee shop — and by classic I mean the casual, friendly kind of joint that appeared 20 years ago.
This could be a cousin of Mad City Coffee in Columbia — house-roasted beans, breakfast sandwiches, lunch, and tables scattered for people to relax. You can go for java on your commute, for sandwiches on your lunch break, or for a quiet break with your laptop or a newspaper.
